• My name : John Kohji Suguiyama

  "Suguiyama" is my family name. It came from the village name where my father's ancestors lived in. Suguiyama village is now in Toyohashi city, Aichi prefecture, 80km from my home town.
  "John" is my baptismal name. ("Yohane" in Japanese Bible)
  "Kohji" is my Japanese personal name. It means "Child of Light".
  In Japan(and China, Korea) we call our names, family name 1st, and personal name 2nd.
  So my name is called "Suguiyama Kohji" in Japanese.
  I write my name in Kanji(Chinese Character) or Hiragana(Japanese Alphabet).

• My Birthday : February 29, 1968

  (at 23:14 JST=GMT+9)
  My birthday comes only once in 4 years, the same as summer Olympic year!
  I was born in the year of Mexico Olympic, when Japan won the Bronze Medal at soccer football.
  I became 7 years old in the year of Atlanta Olympic.

• My Home : Nagoya

  NAGOYA is the 3rd biggest city area in Japan. Population is about 2 million. Founded in 17th century. It is between 2 bigger cities, Tokyo and Osaka. SHINKANSEN bullet train is convenient. Nagoya and suburban area are industrial cities, famous for Toyota Car and Seto pottery(Seto-mono).

  JAPAN is an island country near the eastern coast of Asian continent, like England in Europe.

• I speak Japanese, English, and Korean a little, French a little.

• My Job : IT Engineer

• I graduated Kyoto University. I studied astrophysics.
  Kyoto University has the strongest college American football team in Japan.
  Kyoto city is the most famous sight-seeing place in Japan. It was old Japanese capital, founded in 8th century.

• Religion : Christian (Protestantist)
  I was born in a Christian family. But it is a rare lucky case in Japan.
  Only 1% of Japanese population are Christians. It's much fewer than the other countries, even than Asian countries.
  In 16th century, Christian(Catholic) missionary came to Japan for the first time, from Spain. There were many Christian people and Christian Samurai in West Japan at that time.
  But in 17-19th century, Tokugawa Shogun government(Bakufu) prohibited Christianity and international trade. Japan had been isolated from the world for about 200 years. Then Japanese Christians kept their belief underground.
  In the middle of 19th century, Japan reopened diplomatic relations, and started rapid development and modernization. Christianity was permitted again. Protestantism came to Japan from America and Europe then.
  My family have been Christians since the age of my grandfather.
